Digital wedding invitation: video, PDF or website?

By Nimantran · Updated 19 October 2026

A digital wedding invitation is any invitation you send on the phone instead of on paper. In India it comes in three forms: a video, a PDF or image card, or a website with its own link. Here is how they compare, what they cost, and how to choose.

The three kinds of digital invitation

1. Video invitation

A 30 to 90 second video with animation, music and photos, sent as an MP4. It feels personal and works well as a WhatsApp status or an Instagram reel. But it is a large file that each guest must download, the details are hard to find later, and any change means a new video.

2. PDF or image card (e-card)

A designed card saved as an image or a PDF, often the same design as the printed card. It is cheap and easy to forward. But the text is small on a phone, it has no maps or RSVP, and a change of venue means sending a new card to everyone.

3. Invitation website

A link that opens a page in the browser, like aarav-meera.nimantran.page. It can hold every function with its own map, add-to-calendar buttons, a countdown, an RSVP, a photo gallery and music. When something changes, you edit it and the same link shows the new details.

What a digital invitation costs

  • PDF or image card: free with a template tool, or a few hundred rupees from a designer.
  • Video: from a few hundred rupees for a template to a few thousand for a custom edit with your photos.
  • Invitation website: a Nimantran ready-made invitation is ₹2,100 once, including GST, with no subscription. A Custom invitation with your own design, story and link starts at ₹15,000.

Which one to choose

  • Choose a website if guests travel, you have many functions, or venues and timings may still change.
  • Choose a video if you mainly want something for status and reels.
  • Choose a PDF if you print cards and want the same card on WhatsApp.

Many couples combine them: printed cards for close elders, the website link for everyone, and a short clip for status. For the words, see the English wording and the Hindi card matter.

How to make a wedding invitation website

With Nimantran it takes about five minutes, and you see the whole invitation before you pay.

  1. Choose a design. Royal Heritage Palace, Anime Watercolor, Pop Comic Storybook, Celestial Minimal, Rajputana Pothi, Marwari Shaan, Kankotri Raas. Each one is a live sample you can open.
  2. Answer the questions: your names, families, city, each ceremony with its date and venue, up to 10 photos, and the WhatsApp number for RSVPs.
  3. See it with your own details, in English and हिन्दी.
  4. Pay ₹2,100 once by UPI, card or net banking.
  5. Share your link, with your names in it, on WhatsApp. Change anything later with your private edit link. The link works until 90 days after your last ceremony.

Should you still print cards?

Many families print a few cards: the first one for Ganesh ji or the family deity, and some for elders who like a card in hand. Put a QR code of your invitation link on the printed card, and guests get the maps and timings on their phone too.
