Dress codes for each function

A dress code helps guests pack, above all for a destination wedding. These are common choices, not rules.

FunctionColoursWhat to wear
Ganesh pujaRed, orange, pastelsSimple ethnic wear
HaldiYellow, whiteCotton kurtas and clothes that can get stained
MehendiGreen, pink, bright printsLehenga, sharara, kurta

Some families avoid black and white at the wedding itself. If yours does, say it on the invitation. Every Nimantran invitation shows the dress code for each ceremony with colour swatches.

Questions

Do we need a separate invitation for each function?

Not a separate card. One invitation with the full list is enough, but give each function its own date, time, venue and dress code. A website invitation can give each one its own card with a map.

What is the order of functions in a North Indian wedding?

Usually the Ganesh puja, haldi, mehendi and sangeet, then the baraat, varmala, pheras and vidaai, and a reception. Families change the order to suit the muhurat and travel.

What should guests wear to a haldi?

Yellow or white cotton clothes that can get stained. Turmeric does not wash out easily, so say so on the invitation.
