WhatsApp wedding invitation messages

In India most wedding invitations now go out on WhatsApp, even when there is also a printed card. A good WhatsApp invitation is short, personal, and puts everything a guest needs one tap away. Below are messages in English and Hindi for each kind of guest, with reminders and thank-you notes. Change the highlighted parts.

How to send a wedding invitation on WhatsApp

  1. Call the close elders first. A message does not replace a phone call to your grandmother's sister. Send the link after the call.
  2. Send one message with the text and the link. A 40 MB video is slow on mobile data and fills the phone. A link opens at once and can show every venue on Google Maps.
  3. Use a broadcast list, not a group. Each guest gets a personal chat, and nobody gets 200 "congratulations" replies.
  4. Write the guest's name at the top for family and close friends.
  5. Send a reminder a day or two before each function, with the time and the map.

Is it okay to invite guests on WhatsApp?

Yes. In India it is now usual, above all for friends, colleagues and guests in other cities. For close elders, many families still call or visit with a card first, then send the WhatsApp link for the details.

How do I send a wedding invitation to many people on WhatsApp?

Use a broadcast list (in WhatsApp, New broadcast). Each guest gets it as a personal chat and replies come only to you. Only contacts who have saved your number receive broadcast messages, so send it directly to the others.

Should I send a video or a link on WhatsApp?

A link opens at once, uses little data and can hold maps, timings and an RSVP. A video invitation is a large file that guests must download, and you cannot change it after you send it.
