Bengali wedding card (বিয়ের কার্ড), online

By Nimantran · Updated 26 October 2026

A Bengali wedding card online, painted as a scroll of the Hooghly in Kalighat colours. Guests blow the shankh, ulu rings out, a white alpona blooms around your names, and a nouka sails from ghat to ghat, one ghat for each chapter, from aiburobhat and gaye holud to the bou bhaat. You send it as one link, in Bangla and English.

A Bengali wedding card that sails the Hooghly

The Shubho Bibaho design opens on sindoor red with a shankh. The guest taps or holds it, the conch is blown three times, the ulu ripples out, and an alpona blooms ring by ring around your names. Then the river rises and a nouka sails in, with a red canopy, a sail painted শুভ বিবাহ, and the groom’s topor and the bride’s mukut under the canopy.

Each ghat on the bank is a chapter. Guests drag the water, tap a ghat or use the river map at the bottom, and when the boat docks, that chapter’s pata unfurls from a bamboo rod, in a Kalighat frame with a Dacca zari band. The sky follows the hour of each ritual: dawn for the welcome, noon for the aiburobhat, night with floating diyas for the lagna.

  • Nimontron with শ্রী শ্রী প্রজাপতয়ে নমঃ and the Prajapati butterfly, then bor and kone with their families.
  • A countdown on terracotta tiles at the wedding ghat, where a dhaak roll, ulu and a shower of shiuli flowers greet the boat.
  • Music: shehnai in Raag Khamaj with esraj, harmonium, tanpura, khol, manjira and a temple bell, with the conch and dhaak as cues.
  • Directions and add to calendar for each ritual, photos painted like little Kalighat pats, notes for guests and your story.
  • RSVP on WhatsApp at the Asben kintu! ghat.

The Bengali wedding rituals, in order

The sample is Srijita Sen of Jadavpur and Aritra Bhattacharya of Bhowanipore, married in Kolkata in Agrahayan. Their river has these:

  1. Aiburobhat (আইবুড়োভাত): the last bachelor lunch on a kansa thala.
  2. Gaye Holud (গায়ে হলুদ): turmeric from the groom’s home crosses the city with the tattwa, rui fish included.
  3. Shubho Drishti, Mala Badal & Sindoor Daan: the bride carried in on a piri behind betel leaves, garlands swapped three times, and sindoor.
  4. Bashi Biye & Bidaay (বাসি বিয়ে ও বিদায়): the morning rituals, then the kanakanjali and the farewell.
  5. Bou Bhaat (বৌভাত): the new bou serves rice to her new family, then a feast under the shamiana.

Questions

Is the Bengali wedding card in Bangla?

Yes. Bangla is one of its languages, and guests switch to English (or a third Indian language) with one tap. The Bangla page writes dates, times and the countdown in Bangla digits. In every language the Bangla words stay painted beside the text: শুভ বিবাহ on the sail, the ghat signs and each ritual’s Bangla name.

Can we write the Bengali date and the lagna time?

Yes. The sample’s invitation names 18 Agrahayan, and the wedding ghat shows the lagna from 9:12 PM with a countdown to it. Write your own tithi and lagna, and the sky over each ghat follows the hour of that ritual.

Can we add our own rituals, like Ashirbad or Dodhi Mangal?

Yes. Rename, remove or add any ritual. Each one gets its date, time, venue, Bangla name, a dress code with colour swatches, a note for guests, directions and an add-to-calendar button.

How much does the Bengali wedding card cost?

It is made to order by our studio, so the price depends on your wedding. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates for a quote.
