A lagna patrika behind the antarpat

At a Marathi lagna the antarpat is held between the bride and groom during the mangalashtak and lifted at "शुभ मंगल सावधान". The Antarpat design is built on that moment. It opens with a samai whose five wicks light one by one, and two hands in green chuda holding a folded black Chandrakala. The guest taps, akshata fly, and शुभ मंगल सावधान appears letter by letter.

Each chapter then hangs behind its own Paithani: Chandrakala, Morpankhi, Kesari, bangdi-mor and more, each with its own padar motif. The guest swipes up or taps to lift the cloth. It ripples and gathers, rice grains of haldi and kumkum burst out, and the tutari sounds. On a laptop the cloth hangs in a Pune wada courtyard with carved pillars, a tulsi vrindavan and a Warli frieze.

• Music: an original sanai melody in Raag Bhoop, with chaughada drums, lezim jingles, manjira, harmonium and a bansuri.
• The Lagna cloth: the muhurat in Marathi, a live countdown, and the mangalashtak, antarpat, kanyadaan and saptapadi.
• Directions and add to calendar for every venue, with dress codes like nauvari and Puneri pagdi.
• Photos and a film, notes on stay, travel, food and aher, and RSVP on WhatsApp.

The Marathi wedding vidhi, in order

The sample is Mrunal Deshpande of Pune and Aditya Kulkarni of Nashik. Their patrika lists these:

1. Sakharpuda: sugar, a green sari and rings, and the match is sealed.
2. Kelvan & Mehendi: the kelvan feast on banana leaves while the mehendi goes round.
3. Halad: haldi from Jejuri, ground with songs.
4. Ganpati Pujan & Grahmakh: the morning puja, and the devdevak is seated.
5. Seemant Pujan: the varhad arrives with tutari and lezim, and the groom is welcomed at the boundary.
6. Sangeet: lavani, natya-sangeet and an ukhane battle.
7. Lagna: the mangalashtak, the antarpat lifted at 11.42 in the morning, kanyadaan and saptapadi.
8. Reception, then a Satyanarayan Puja in the new home.
